Pouilly-Fumé, Domaine Des Fines Caillottes, Jean Pabiot et Fils 2022
I am a big fan of really good Pouilly-Fumé, and Jean Pabiots is one of the best. The latest vintage has the trademark hint of chalk and smoke, and a lovely, flinty, mineral underbelly. Its sauvignon flavours are restrained, sophisticated and elegant.
It's from a fifth-generation family of artisanal growers having some of the best terroir in this famous Loire appellation - terroir composed of Silex (flint) and Kimmeridgian (clay and limestone containing fossilised sea creatures including oysters).
Pouilly-Fumé vineyards are next to Sancerres both produce the best sauvignons in the Loire Valley with Pouilly being particularly noted for its exceptional minerality. They are both well represented as the wines of choice in the best fish restaurants.
I hope you will enjoy this glorious Pouilly-Fumé as much as I do. It is scrumptious and perfect for drinking now.
