2019 Vacqueyras 'Cuvée des Templiers', Clos du Cazeaux
Available En Primeur
One of the Southern Rhone's star wines, Clos des Cazaux's brilliantly judged Vacqueyras 'Cuvée des Templiers' is composed of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache in 2019. This atypically high proportion of Syrah embues the wine with delightful lifted violet and garrique infused aromatics, whist on the palate the wine is dense and deep, showcasing intense red and black berried fruit.
Jean-Michel Vache's wines were top of our shopping list back in 1999, and this remains very much the case today. Established by Gabriel Archimbaud in 1936, when the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation was in its infancy, the Clos des Cazaux has vineyards in Vacqueyras and Gigondas, and is now widely regarded as one of the regions leading lights, producing innovative, consistent wines of exceptional quality and remarkable value for money.
