Pauillac 2022

This is very striking indeed. Deep in colour - perhaps the biggest, most serious wine of the range. A perfect illustration of why many regard Pauillac as Bordeaux’s finest appellation. Absolutely benchmark, but with the hot vintage again adding a dramatic ‘oomph’ to the mix. Has an alluring, exotic perfume on the nose - a note of violets perhaps, leading to ripe blackcurrant and blueberry aromas. Fine-grained velvety tannins are there, but well-balanced by the deep, dark fruit intensity. Has a polished feel and a biscuity, almost creamy texture. Real poise and presence, with a rich, chewy finish.
