"With decent bottle age, the 2018 Pauillac is in its prime. Like a flower in the evening, it's richly scented with loganberries, mulberries and peppery spice to the fore, and a savoury touch in the mouth. I'd crack this open at Christmas alongside saddle of lamb or rib of beef."

The most aged of the reds, but still very deep
in colour – perhaps the biggest, most serious
wine of the range. Five years maturation
adds a notable polish to the striking cassis
fruit – with secondary notes of cedar and
spice gradually emerging. This is benchmark
Pauillac with an appealing combination of
ripe black fruit flavours and fine-grained
tannins. Real poise and presence, with a rich,
chewy finish. Drink now-2028.
