The Southern Rhône where vines were first planted as long ago as 600BC has always produced glorious, full-bodied red wines that are exceptionally good value, as good as you will find anywhere in France. Rich, peppery wines that can sometimes consist of more than 20 grape varieties, principally grenache, syrah, mourvèdre and carignan. They are perfect winter wines for drinking now.
