Château Marjosse, Bordeaux 2016
Despite the simple, Bordeaux Rouge classification, under the bonnet there is some very smart winemaking indeed. For here is a cuvée from no less than Pierre Lurton, the proprietor of top Chateaux Cheval Blanc and Yquem. Extraordinary value, and a very classy glass of claret. Rich, textured and plump; also luscious with profound black fruit, and an alluring smoky, exotic spice note. Mostly merlot with a little of cabernets sauvignon and franc in the mix, and what's more, from the exceptional 2016 vintage.
