Why We Recommend It

  • Old Vines and Low Yields
Made from organically farmed, low-yielding old-vine Chardonnay for impressive concentration and character.
  • Rich, Textured White Burgundy
Oak fermentation brings richness and texture to ripe peach and baked-apple fruit, balanced by citrus freshness.
  • Beautiful Now, with More to Come
Already drinking beautifully, with further evolution expected over the next 2–5 years and potentially beyond.

Jonathan Ray's Verdict

"The Claudie Jobard, Rully ‘Montagne La Folie’ was also a great hit. ‘Buttery,’ said Lara, happily. ‘Buttery and nutty,’ said Will, ditto. ‘I love that!’ said Freddy. ‘I’ll never drink Barefoot again,’ sighed Rupert. Made with organically farmed, low yielding, old vine fruit fermented in oak, it’s a glorious wine with rich peach/baked apple fruit and that beautifully textured, yep, buttery finish."

For Those Who Like Their Chardonnay with a Little More Weight
Claudie Jobard's Montagne La Folie is a beautifully expressive example of the richer, more textured side of white Burgundy. Organically farmed, low-yielding old-vine fruit is fermented in oak, bringing depth and texture without overwhelming the freshness of the Chardonnay.

Peach, apricot and baked orchard fruit mingle with toasted almond, hazelnut and subtle spice, while a fresh citrus streak keeps the creamy richness beautifully in check. It's drinking wonderfully now, but there's no hurry: further evolution over the next 2–5 years and potentially beyond should bring even greater complexity.

How does the wine taste? Customer Reviews (1)
Full-flavoured and beautifully textured, with peach, baked apple and apricot alongside toasted almond, hazelnut and marzipan. Citrus freshness and subtle minerality balance the creamy richness, leading into a long, warming and complex finish.

Excellent. very much as described, ripe fruit, apricot, toasted nuts. A really luscious wine for drinking with food.
