  • One of our longest-standing and most popular white wine recommendations
  • A wonderfully aromatic alternative to Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc
  • Produced by the Farjon family, trusted Rhône growers for four generations

Why it's one of our favourites
Some wines become favourites for a reason, and this Viognier is one of them. We've been working with the Farjon family at Domaine Les Grands Bois for well over a decade, and this has become one of our most popular white wines, returning year after year thanks to its outstanding consistency, character and value. Now in the excellent 2025 vintage, it remains our go-to recommendation for anyone looking to discover Viognier or enjoy something a little different from the more familiar Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. Beautifully aromatic yet wonderfully fresh, it's a wine we're always delighted to welcome back into stock.

From David Campbell
"The Farjon family at Domaine Les Grands Bois have been making superb wines for four generations. When we first discovered this Viognier more than ten years ago, we knew it was something special. Today it remains our house Viognier and one of the wines I'm most pleased to recommend. The latest vintage continues that tradition beautifully."

How does the wine taste? Customer Reviews (2)
Bright golden in colour, this expressive Viognier opens with fragrant aromas of white flowers, ripe pear, peach and apricot. The palate is generous and rounded, balanced by crisp minerality that brings freshness and elegance. Rich fruit flavours carry through to a long, satisfying finish.

This is the most incredible bargain. I love southern Rhone whites especially Condrieu, but that's sadly too good and too expensive to drink everyday. £14.95! for a wine produced from Viognier grapes grown on those wonderful slopes you see as you head away from Lyon on the Autoroute de Soleil. Glorious place, delicious wine with lovely fruit, fresh blossom all so fresh. Next time we drive down to the South of France I am going to be the passenger, sipping this Viognier. Thank you for the recommendation of this lovely wine and thank you to John Livingstone-Learmonth for introducing me to this great river.

"The 2024 Domaine Les Grands Bois Viognier is the latest vintage of another great favourite of mine (and one of yours too, it seems, as it always sells out when we offer it). Ava liked its warming feeling and Mrs Ray detected a complex mix of peach, apricot and ripe banana. Mike declared it the vinous equivalent of a well-made Negroni (I'm still working that one out), adding that it was drinking very well (a bit of wine-speak with which he was very chuffed). Yep, that hits the spot, murmured Bibi. "
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine Tasted in August 2025
"May be the finest value in Viognier that I have ever tasted."
Robert Parker
"This is a white Côtes-du-Rhône, 100% Viognier, from an estate which has been certified organic since 2011. It's a truly lovely Viognier, with enough 'heady' perfume of apricot and blossom, but then plenty of citrus and firmer, pear and apple freshness too. In the mouth it wears its 14% alcohol lightly, though that does help give this texture and weight, it stays crisp and cool through to the finish."
