Exclusive Offer | Barbera d'Alba 'Roscaleto', Enzo Boglietti, Piemonte 2017
I've always found space in my cellar for the wines of charismatic Italian winemaker Enzo Boglietti. Having been fortunate to meet, dine and enjoy these wines in Enzo's company over the years I know first hand of his passion for his craft.
Enzo's Barbera d'Alba has appeared on our wine list for a number of years and has a loyal following, so I'm delighted that we have secured a small parcel of his premium Barbera d'Alba 'Roscaleto' which has now landed at our warehouse.
Roscaleto is produced with fruit nurtured on the silty soils of his vineyards in La Morra. These old barbera vines have sent their roots deep through the seemingly baron soils in the pursuit of nutrients, the result is low yields but of exceptional quality.
Slow fermentation in tank followed by an 18-month rest in fine French-oak barrels, has resulted in a red wine of great complexity; with rich dark red berry fruit, spice and subtle woody warmth whilst retaining barbera's signature freshness.
