Château Ramafort 2010 was our top selling claret last year - with good reason as it is one of the Médoc’s top Cru Bourgeois and in 2010 made a classic claret worthy of that great vintage. We will shortly be moving onto the 2015 vintage so if you like the 2010, please buy now.

Our stock has come straight from the château's cellars where it has been gently maturing for more than ten years undisturbed. It has now reached its peak (with at least another 5-7 years ahead of it). You will find no claret in the UK at under £20 a bottle to match it in terms of quality and taste - except from us!

The château, which previously belonged to Château Lafite, is on the highest plateau in the Médoc, just north of Saint-Estèphe. Its credentials are impeccable. We all love this claret and I am sure that the many hundreds of our customers who have bought it would agree. Please don’t leave it too long to order the last of the 2010.

How does the wine taste?
A blend of 50% merlot and 50% cabernet sauvignon. Dense deep red colour with a nose that is full of smooth, rich red berries and black fruit - cherry, blueberry and blackberries. The palate is wonderful with a full body and weight to it, while incorporating gorgeous softened tannins after time in bottle. The style is clean with structure and a classic Médoc feel. There are very subtle chocolate and toasty toffee notes from the oak along with a gorgeous lengthy finish. A terrific high-quality claret at a great price.

What do the critics say?
"Released only when deemed ready to drink, the 2010 Château Ramafort is in cracking form. The Cru Bourgeois estate, whose vineyards and 13th-century château lie on the highest plateau of the Médoc, just north of St Estèphe, once belonged to Château Lafite, and precision here is everything. A fifty/fifty blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the wines crammed with ripe briary fruit and is so soft in the mouth, so succulent and just so satisfying."

A classic Medoc with a deep colour yet smooth and velvety finish. I bought a case of having tried a couple of bottles. Great value for 2010 claret - would definitely recommend.
