Our Saint-Estèphe is one of the stars of our declassified range. And it would be, given its from one of the Left Banks super second châteaux. In other words, from a 2ème Cru château that achieves a 1er Cru level of quality (as the unofficial moniker suggests). Here is an exquisite claret with a lovely mineral backbone, showing the best of Cabernet in the blend a claret ready to drink now or just as easily tucked away for several more years. Its what a friend recently described as "class in a glass" which is spot-on.

Saint-Estephe is Bordeaux’s cabernet heartland, and the hallmark cassis, cigar box and cedar aromas shine though here. Also evident is the warmth of the 2023 vintage, with ripe, supple black berry fruit flavours, firm grip and leafy, herbaceous notes. Quite a serious claret, with very classical styling. More serious in style, with impressive tannins – quite robust in fact. Rich, powerful and impressive with a little savoury spice on the finish.

"The garnet-red 2023 Saint-Estèphe, with its aromas of bramble/cassis fruit and bottled ink, has been my only new treat, really, over several evenings. It has weight and character of course, but it's surprisingly light on its feet for a Saint-Estèphe, and although there are tannins, along with the communes signature earthiness, its delightfully fresh and ripe. "
