Sancerre, Domaine de la Garenne 2020
Very pale tint of gold in the glass with elegant aromas of ripe orchard fruit, citrus, gooseberry and tropical notes which are intermingled with a delicate wet stone, minerally character.
The palate offers delicate topical fruit, with gooseberry, pear and perhaps even a hint of pineapple, balanced with a lovely citrus 'zing'. There's a great length to the finish with a mineral infused, wet slate finale which is the star of the show.
By itself, it is delicious and offers a multitude of favours to unravel and discover. It's also, of course, equally at home when served alongside salmon, shellfish and aromatic Asian cuisine. A little goat's cheese goes without saying.
This is an example of 'old-school' Sancerre - how Sancerre used to be styled. I love it,and I'm sure you will too.
