Bourgogne Blanc, Alain Chavy 2021
This really is a very elegant wine, with a definite nod to the great wines of Puligny-Montrachet from where it has emerged.
A very pale golden shimmer in the glass is accompanied by delicate aromas of ripe orchard fruit, apple and pear with a hint of citrus.
The palate follows the nose with ripe, crisp orchard fruit, poached pear and apple leading the charge with a smooth creaminess to the lengthy, dry finish, which is punctuated with a crisp, freshening streak of minerality.
The palate is has a lovely weight to it, I believe only around 10% is vinified in old French oak barriques, so it really is down to the quality of fruit and winemaking skill which adds to the richness and delightful mouth-feel.
Pour yourself a glass and relax, it really is a superb wine which oozes the elegance and charm of the Puligny region, but at a very compelling price.
This follows perfectly in the footsteps of the delicious 2020 vintage which we offered earlier in the year (and sold out within hours!).
