A silky merlot blend from the Côtes de Castillon to deliciously demonstrate just how good - and ageworthy - the wines of Bordeaux's more affordable regions have become.

Ripe, red-berried fruit on a dense silky palate. Savoury notes reminiscent of cigar box add a touch of refinement. Drinking well now and will continue to evolve.

An "utterly delicious Médoc" from one of the great Bordeaux vintages of recent times, and one in which a complexity of fruit-laden flavours now approaching full maturity.

A showy, voluptuous style of claret - very clearly from a warm, expressive vintage, but still with striking freshness and fine balance.

Château Ramafort is in cracking form. The Cru Bourgeois estate, once belonged to Château Lafite. A 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot.

Wonderful structure and balance, where merlot delivers rich, vibrant, plummy fruit, and cabernet franc adds structure, a touch of perfume and bouquet garni both aromatically and on the palate.

"Although from one of the appellation's most celebrated estates, the 2020 Saint-Estèphe could almost come from Somerton, so classic an 'English' claret is it."

Impressive expansion from Chateau Teyssier has allowed grapes to be produced from numerous terroirs. The result is spectacular. Teyssier consistently produces very high quality wines.

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Les Tourelles de Longueville gives aromas of crushed blackberries, warm plums and mulberries with accents of bay leaves, garrigue and cinnamon..."

2020 Echo de Lynch Bages is fabulous. offering all the aromatic sensuality, red fruit and silkiness of the Grand Vin, in an open-knit style that can be enjoyed upon release.

St-Julien 4ème Cru Château Branaire-Ducru is situated in the extreme south of the appellation just opposite an equally renowned Chateau Beychevelle.

A highly rated Cru Bourgeois from the Northern Médoc and one whose 2015 is not just an exceptional vintage, but one now fully mature.

From 3rd-growth Château Giscours (Margaux) and sumptuous, abundant, well-balanced proof that you need not always pay £20+ for a bottle of Left Bank pedigree and finesse.

Extraordinary value, and a very classy glass of claret. Rich, textured and plump; also luscious with profound black fruit, and an alluring smoky, exotic spice note.

A soft, rich wine with a touch of minerality. The blend is 65% merlot, 33% cabernet sauvignon with a touch of petite verdot.
