Othello, JP Moueix, Napa Valley 2015
I've been fortunate enough to serve Othello on a number of occasions, the most memorable of which being alongside a fine medium-rare fillet steak expertly cooked by my father-in-law.
It's a classic left-bank 'Bordeaux blend' with cabernet sauvignon very much to the fore. Very stylish and sophisticated, with signature Napa richness and texture. Deep in colour with warm, intense blackcurrant fruit - heady, spicy, and almost hedonistic.
Bold and weighty on the palate, but also with a luxuriously smooth texture - ripe plum and cassis flavours with a notable polish and a touch of exotic spice.
It's a 'showy' wine bursting with the potential to evolve further, perfect with fillet steak but equally a very welcome addition to any fine dining experience.
A sumptuous, delicious red which welcomes an hour's rest in the decanter, and will continue to develop in bottle for many more years to come. Drink now-2026+
