The Tuscan Taster Case
In this mixed case, you will receive two bottles each of the following wines;
'Pergolaia' Caiarossa Toscana Rosso 2014
There is some very smart winemaking at work here with warm, bright red fruit, luscious texture, a whisper of oak, and ripe tannins all in perfect harmony. Absolutely singing now, but with plenty of structure for cellaring - I intend to buy a case to enjoy now, and another to tuck away for a few years.
Achille IGT Toscana, Bindi Sergardi 2021
Very, very drinkable, this latest vintage, showing bright, vibrant, red/black cherry fruit and blackberry on the palate. Luscious freshness, pleasing warmth and texture enhanced by a touch of toast and spice from barrel-ageing.
Nicolò Governo all'uso Toscano IGT Toscana Rosso, Bindi Segardi 2019
Big deep, rich and rewarding. Made partially from dried grapes- a traditional Tuscan process called 'Governo' which adds an extra level of intensity and texture. Well-structured and harmonious, with deep, dark fruit.
'Sacromonte' Rosso, Castello di Potentino, Tuscany 2016
A must buy for all of us who love really good mature Italian red wine. It has lots of ripe fruit and minerality with spices and a touch of tobacco and would make a perfect match for pasta with wild boar ragù, mushroom risotto and pecorino.
'The Winemaker's Release', Castello di Potentino 2014
Intensely floral, with violet and rose notes, sage, savoury and wild penny mint. The palate is dry, complex and extremely sublimated, with fine web-like acidity and subtle but resonant tannins.
Rosso di Montalcino, La Gerla, Tuscany 2019
Rosso di Montalcino is not a heavy, rich wine, rather an elegant and polished red. Produced with 100% sangiovese this really is quite a vibrant wine both in terms of colour and flavour. The nose is one of red-berry fruit and delicate herbs, which lead to a palate which is alive with sweet red cherry and an underlying gentle spice and a slight hint of blueberry and tobacco leaf.
